VISMATH – “Visuality & mathematics: Experimental education of mathematics through visual arts, sciences and playful activities”(Project number: 530394-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-HU-TEMPUS-JPHES).

The idea of visual mathematics represents connection between art and math, created from the simplicity and effectiveness of visual communication that allows you to display almost all mathematical concepts. Among other things, the project VisMath offers great opportunities for presenting mathematics in a creative, engaging and interesting way, providing inspiration to achieve any major success in this field of science. The main goal is for teachers to develop new methods to communicate mathematics to their students in a more visual and interesting way. Consortium of this project consists of 8 organizations – participants from 5 European countries.

During the project, consortium was working on expanding and modernizing the tool system used in the field of mathematics and other sciences in Serbian elementary and secondary schools. First interactive toolkits (laptop, projector, “active board”) was purchased for the benefit of each Serbian partner-institution. Then an educational smart toolkit was developed, and consisted of an exercise book and software – both linked to the modern teaching methods. The third part of the educational toolkit is a series of short films that can be used as methodological help by teachers. Project consortium passed on and developed teaching methodology for Serbian teachers and undergraduate students to use in elementary and secondary mathematics education. Methods for teaching mathematics in an exciting way through two Summer Universities, two Experience Workshops, various publications, short-term mobilities for students and through a closing conference were presented. The wider purpose of the poject was to make sure that more children choose mathematics as their subject of studies.
